Balkans | 162 ballot boxes will be set up in 20 provinces of Türkiye in the Bulgarian elections

Cevat Güneş, Chairman of the Thracian-Balkan Association for Culture and Solidarity with the Turks, said that within the scope of the elections that will be held on April 2 in Bulgaria, 162 ballot boxes will be set up in 20 provinces for the citizens of Turkey.

Göneş told Anadolu Agency (AA) that early general elections will be held for the fifth time in the past two years due to the inability to form a government in Bulgaria.

Pointing out that the parties in Bulgaria were not able to obtain a sufficient majority in the elections held in the past two years, Güneş said, “There was an unstable situation due to the fact that they could not get enough votes. This affects Bulgaria, which is in crisis.” Economic Of course, this situation affects our citizens as well. He said.

Expressing that his compatriots are tired of going to the polls because of the elections, Güneş followed up his words as follows:

We hope that Turks and citizens of Bulgaria will enjoy better living conditions and raise the level of well-being. We want a stable government there in order to strengthen relations between Türkiye and Bulgaria. We ask our relatives to come and participate in the voting process in the polls, as this is very valuable to you. If you want to have a say there, it will be with the formation of the government in Bulgaria. The government can be formed by loud votes of the parties in the Bulgarian Parliament. There was an unstable situation here, the parties in Bulgaria were very scattered, their number was high, and their number remained low.

Güneş stated that there are approximately 20 parties participating in the elections in Bulgaria, but a government could not be formed because the parties could not get a sufficient number of deputies.

“We have more than 300,000 voters in Türkiye.”

Stating that within the scope of the elections to be held in Bulgaria, 162 ballot boxes will be set up in 20 provinces for the citizens of Turkey, Güneş said:

We have more than 300 thousand voters in Türkiye. 300 thousand people of our dual citizenship and compatriots living in Turkey can vote in the Bulgarian elections. But we see that our citizens voted in the range of 60-90 thousand in the past elections. Our goal is to vote in the range of 120-130K in the Bulgarian parliamentary elections that will take place on April 2nd. The votes we will use here can lead to the formation of a government there. Formation of the government means not taking any action regarding the elections for a period of 4 years. This can lead to an increase in economic, trade and cultural relations between Bulgaria and Turkey to a higher level.

Güneş stated that approximately 2,000 relatives will vote in the 75th primary school in the city center, the Bulgarian Consulate General and the Keshan High School in the Keshan district.

“Bulgaria is one of the first countries to apply for assistance”

Güneş stated that the failure of the government to establish led to fatigue and unrest among the people.

Stating that citizens living in Turkey want to protect people living in Bulgaria, Güneş made the following assessments:

“Whether it’s Bulgarian or Turkish ethnicity, it doesn’t matter to us. We saw this because of what we went through. Bulgaria is one of the first countries to run for help in the earthquake in Turkey. Our compatriots and the Bulgarians there showed that our brotherly bonds are strong. They provided us with about 150 trucks and thousands of tents.” And 10,000 food supplies. They also offered financial aid. They supported us. In such cases, we also want to support them and establish a sound government.”
