It was reported that two people died as a result of the crash of a fire extinguisher plane in the Platanistos area of Erepos, which is about 200 kilometers from the Greek capital, Athens.
The statement issued by the Hellenic Air Force Command stated that the CL-215 aircraft crashed in the Platanistos area at 14:52 today during the air combat against the fire.
In the statement, the death of 34-year-old pilot Christos Moolas and 27-year-old co-pilot Periklis Stefanidis was recorded in the accident.
Three days of mourning was declared in the Hellenic Armed Forces until July 27, by decision of Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias, because of the incident.
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis also postponed his visit to the Greek Cypriot administration tomorrow.
