In a statement to the correspondent of the Macedonian News Agency, the head of the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of the Interior of North Macedonia, Natalia Spirova, confirmed that many institutions and organizations have been notified of the threats of bombings.

Spirova stated that, according to the information received, explosives were placed in 10 schools in Skopje and 5 schools in Manastir.

Measures were taken to safely evacuate the premises by police officers after notifications were received, Spirova said, “Anti-terrorism checks are being carried out. Measures are being taken to clarify the incidents.” He said.

A bomb threat was also made at the hotel where Prime Minister Dimitar Kovaczewski and Economy Minister Kresnik Bekteci were to be present, Spirova said, so the event was canceled and citizens were evacuated from the hotel.

It was also reported that there were bomb threats on Football Federation of North Macedonia (FFM), Boris Trajkovski Sports Hall and Skopje International Airport, flights were canceled and airport staff and passengers were evacuated.

North Macedonia has received many bomb threats in the past days. The Ministry of the Interior published the information that more than 50 primary and secondary schools in the cities of Skopje and Kumanova received bomb threats yesterday.

In addition to schools, various official and commercial buildings have received bomb threats before, and the police stated that the reports so far are unfounded.

Recently, there have been many bomb threats in the region, especially in Serbia and Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia.
