A demonstration was held in Nis, Serbia, under the title “End Violence”.
The demonstrators gathered in King Milan Square in Nice, holding banners reading “A niche against violence” to draw attention to the armed attacks that took place in the country some time ago.
The demonstrators demanded an end to incitement to violence in public, the removal of violent programming, the resignation of the Radio and Television Serbian (RTS) administration and the supervisory board that determines which channels will be broadcast in Serbia, and the Minister of Interior Bratislav Jazic. He demanded the head of the CIS, Alexander Volin.
Jordana Arsic, one of the demonstrators, said in a statement that she organized a demonstration under the title “End Violence” to draw attention to the “abnormal” conditions the country is witnessing.
Arsic stated that if their demands are not met, they will close the Gazela Bridge in the capital, Belgrade, to traffic.
– Two armed attacks within a week in Serbia
At Vladislav Ribnikar Primary School in Belgrade, 14-year-old KK opened fire on security guards and students on 3 May. The attack killed 8 children and a security guard, and wounded 6 children and a teacher.
The 14-year-old boy had reportedly been planning the attack for a month and had a school plan and a list of the students he attacked.
Two days after the attack on the school in the capital, UB, 21, fired indiscriminately from a moving vehicle in the village of Dobona in Mladenvac, killing 8 people with an automatic rifle.
He declared national mourning after two armed attacks in Serbia that killed 17 people.
