President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has arrived in Sarajevo as part of his first official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

We exchanged ideas and evaluated opportunities for cooperation. “We have a common view that the scope of bilateral relations will be expanded,” he added.

Stressing that Bosnia and Herzegovina’s position during the developments in Nagorno-Karabakh was of great importance to Azerbaijan, Aliyev said, “Two and a half years ago, Azerbaijan re-established its territorial integrity. Bosnia and Herzegovina has taken a step forward and supported our efforts. I would like to thank your country for the friendship and brotherhood you have You showed it. Azerbaijan stands by your state on all issues, including the territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We are opening new chapters in our relations. Within the framework of my visit, we discussed several areas of cooperation, in particular the Partnership Declaration, through which new avenues of cooperation were outlined. ” .

Emphasizing that there is great potential for economic cooperation, Aliyev said: “There will be new initiatives in the economy. We will advance towards certain goals and create a joint economic committee. The strategic partnership is of great importance and I believe that our countries will advance in the future as true strategic partners.”

Noting that they aim to increase the volume of trade between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Azerbaijan, Aliyev said they are interested in investments in the field of energy. The Azerbaijani leader also stated that connecting the Caucasus and the Balkans is of great importance for all countries.

Recalling that Sarajevo and Baku have been sister cities since 1972, Aliyev said, “I believe that the friendship and brotherhood between us will grow stronger after this meeting.”

Cvijanovic: “We decided to establish a strategic partnership with Azerbaijan”

Speaking at the joint press conference, President of the Presidency Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zeljka Cvijanovic said that new pages have been opened in bilateral relations with the friendly country of Azerbaijan.

Emphasizing that the delegations of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Azerbaijan agreed on the areas in which bilateral relations can be developed, and that these are primarily energy, transport and tourism, Tsvijanovic said: “We have decided to establish a strategic partnership and I have no doubt that we will work in this direction. This declaration will help us in Obtaining better political understanding and political consultations.In this way, it will establish stronger economic cooperation, provide the opportunity for broader economic prosperity through communication between enterprises and institutions, and establish advanced security cooperation for the benefit of the whole world.”
