It was reported that Greece’s Presidency of Telecom Security (ADAE) decided to set up a special team to inspect telecom companies operating in the country in order to investigate allegations related to the wiretapping scandal.
In the news in the Greek media, it was mentioned that the audit team will contact all telecom companies operating in the country and investigate whether these companies have received “listening orders” for some people.
In this context, he stated that ADAE President Christos Ramos will ask Alexis Tsipras, leader of the main opposition party, the Alliance of the Radical Left (SYRIZA), to notify the Foundation of the list of phone numbers that may have been wiretapped regarding his request on December 7.
Tsipras visited ADAE on December 7 and requested access to wiretapping orders signed in the past three years as political leader and main opposition leader.
The wiretapping scandal surfaced in April after the mobile phone of Greek journalist Thanassis Koukakis discovered spyware.
In the news in the country’s press, the phones of several important politicians, bureaucrats, journalists and businessmen were allegedly wiretapped, including former Prime Minister Andonis Samaras, Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias and Chief of the General Staff Konstandanos Floros.
