Balkans | An adviser is to be appointed for every deputy in Kosovo.

He will be his personal assistant to each of the 120 deputies of the Kosovo Assembly. The consultants will receive a salary of 600 euros.

With the new arrangement, each of the 120 Kosovo Assembly deputies will have an assistant who can act as an advisor.

This proposal received the green light from both the opposition and the government.

Now MPs will have the opportunity to appoint their own advisers, MP Mirgem Lushtako, a deputy of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), said in a statement on the issue, adding that this is based on European practice.

Western countries have up to 5 advisors and staff who support legislators in drafting legislation, professional research, and other issues. Believe me, we are late with this, because we should have had an assembly before. Lushtako reminded that this regulation, which was approved last month, stipulates the appointment of cadres for the heads of parliamentary committees and deputy heads of parliament.

Similarly, each parliamentary group of up to 10 deputies is entitled to appoint one political advisor, while parliamentary groups of 11 to 20 deputies are entitled to appoint political advisers.

Meanwhile, the parliamentary group, such as the Vetevendosje Movement (VV), which has more than 50 deputies, has the right to appoint 6 political advisers who are paid more than a thousand euros each.

In this system, additional appropriations have been made for deputies and political advisors.
