Najib Krasniqi, executive director of the Kosovo Energy Authority, has been arrested on suspicion of three offenses on the orders of the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Kosovo. It was announced that Krasniqi would be held for 48 hours.
According to the statement made by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Rajp Krasniqi was detained due to well-founded suspicion that he had committed crimes of “abuse of official position or power”.
In a statement to the prosecutor’s office, it was also stated that Krasniqi’s office and two apartments were searched and three (3) computers, one (1) laptop, one (1) mobile phone and one (1) flash memory were confiscated.
Krasniqi’s lawyer, Taulant Friese, has stated that his client is innocent and said that no indictment was expected against him.
Today the Kosovo Police Economic Crime Squads raided the Kosovo Energy Authority.
The raid was carried out on suspicion of tender falsification for the repair of the boiler in block A5 of the Kosovo A thermal power plant.
