Greek F-16 warplanes fly over Bulgaria between April 24-30 as part of the joint flight exercise “Trakiyska Zvezda” (Thrace Star).
Within the framework of the exercise, air warfare, defensive and offensive air operations, tactical interception, aerial visual reconnaissance, multi-altitude flight, close air support, and search and strike operations for land and sea targets with medium-altitude fighters will be conducted.
According to the statement from the Ministry of Defense, the Greek F-16s will fly without landing at the Bulgarian airport. The Ministry stated that the “Star of Thrace” exercise has been carried out since 2010 and is now also being conducted in the context of the Ukraine war, therefore, one of the objectives of the exercise is to achieve greater interoperability in NATO operations.
