Balkans | Bulgaria received a new loan of 1.5 billion euros

In a statement on his social media account, Ljubomir Krymansky, advisor to Bulgarian Finance Minister Rosica Vilkova, said: “The provisional government issued new bonds worth 1.5 billion euros in foreign markets. A 10-year euro-denominated bond was issued.

There is no official statement from the ministry yet.

Krymansky congratulates his team on their success as the government bond sale took place under the extremely difficult conditions under which this type of deal was signed. It is reported that this is one of the best deals since September 2020.

For comparison, at the beginning of the year, Romania and Hungary issued trilateral US dollar bonds, and the yield (interest) on their 10-year bonds was 7.22% for Romania (7.125% of the coupon rate) and 6.509. percent (of the coupon price) for Hungary, respectively. 6,250%).

This is one of the first bond issues of the year in Europe as a whole and the second international loan obtained by the current government, of which Rosica Vilkova is the Minister of Finance.

The yield on the 10-year Eurobonds is comparable to the yield on the 12-year 1.5 billion BGN issued last year. The bond yield is now at 4.78%, up from 4.81% in the fall. This shows that the market conditions are not very complicated at this point. Bulgaria has to pay off an old debt of more than 2 billion leva in March.
