Bulgaria will receive a 33 percent levy from high-return energy companies
The Bulgarian parliament has approved taxing the excess profits of energy companies.
With approval granted, a 33 percent tax will be imposed on oil, gas and coal companies’ profits from the rapid rise in energy prices after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The tax will be applied to energy company profits in 2022 and 2023, which exceed the average of the previous four years by more than 20 percent.
