President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev had a telephone conversation with the President of the European Union Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
During the meeting, the procedures for Bulgaria’s accession to the Schengen Area and the acceleration of the completion of this process were discussed.
President Radev expressed his expectation that the achievements of our country in entering the Schengen Area will be recognized by all EU partners and that Bulgaria will join Schengen only next year. The issue will also be discussed at the European Council meeting in Brussels this month.
