Minister Hristov met with his Turkish counterpart, Fatih Dönmez, who attended the inauguration of the Silivri natural gas storage facility, the largest natural gas storage facility in Europe, near Istanbul.
Major parameters of the long-term contract to provide capacity at Turkey’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals and BOTAŞ transmission network are expected to be finalized this week. At the meeting, which took place at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel on the initiative of the Turkish side, the Bulgarian flag was raised as a sign of respect.
This was the second meeting between the two countries after President Rumin Radev’s official visit to Turkey on December 9. At the time, energy was at the forefront of cooperation issues that Radev discussed with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The Minister was accompanied by Khristov Dennitsa Zlateva and Vladimir Malinov, directors of the companies “Bolgargaz”, “Bolgartransgaz” and the Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Lubomira Gatcheva.
After his visit to Turkey, Minister Hristov moved to the Ukrainian city of Bolgrad to provide assistance to the Bulgarians who make up 70% of the city’s population.
