A Certificate of Appreciation was presented to the Croatian Search and Rescue Teams who worked in the February 6 earthquake in Kahramanmaraş.
Turkey’s Ambassador to Zagreb, Yavuz Selim Kiran, also attended the International Civil Defense Ceremony on March 1 and the Croatian Civil Defense Day held at the Jastrebarsko Logistics Center by the Civil Defense Directorate of the Croatian Ministry of Interior.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Davor Bozinović spoke of their support after the earthquake disaster in Turkey.
Bozinovic mentioned that Turkey was one of the countries that came to assist Croatia in the Petrinja earthquake in 2020. He said that they were among the first countries to respond to the call from the European Union Emergency Response Coordination Center after the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş.
Expressing the dispatch of a search and rescue team of 41 people from Croatia to Turkey on the evening of the earthquake, Davor Bozinovic said, “The search and rescue teams made miraculous efforts in Hatay, and we also delivered 8 trucks of humanitarian aid materials to Turkey in the early days of the earthquake.” He said.
During the ceremony, certificates of appreciation from Ambassador Kieran and Director of Civil Defense Damir Trott were handed over to 41 members of the Croatian Civil Defense Directorate who participated in the search and rescue efforts in Hatay. The Croatian crew attended the ceremony with 7 search and rescue dogs that participated in the work in Hatay.
Ambassador Yavuz Selim Kiran thanked Minister Bozinović for his assistance and solidarity during the earthquake operation in Croatia during the meeting he held before the ceremony.
