Srđan Aleksić, the “hero” of Serb origin, who saved his Bosnian neighbor Alen Glavović from the hands of four Serb soldiers during the Bosnia-Herzegovina War (1992-1995), has been commemorated with celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of his death.
A party was held in Trebinje, the hometown of Aleksic, who was beaten to death by the same soldiers after he saved his neighbor Glavović from Serbian soldiers in 1993 during the Bosnian War.
In his speech, Aleksić’s father, Rade Aleksić, said that he had not forgotten his son’s pain and said that the “good deeds” left by people like Srjan should never die and humanity should be converted.
Trebinje City Council President Dragoslav Banjak said: “Every January 27, we commemorate the memory of our young man, Serjan Aleksić, who lost his life while protecting a weaker person. There is also a sports complex bearing his name in Trebinje. In this way we preserve his memory permanently.” He said.
– Who is the “hero” Srjjan Aleksic?
During the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Aleksic of Serb origin, who lives in the city of Trebinje in the south of the country, intervened to save his Bosnian neighbor Glavović, who was beaten to death by four Serbian soldiers on January 21, 1993, but this situation cost him his life.
Aleksic, who saved Glavović from the Serbian soldiers, was beaten by the soldiers of his own nation and was taken to the hospital and died on January 27, 1993, despite all the interventions.
Aleksic’s neighbor Glavović, whom he rescued from Serbian soldiers, still lives in Sweden with his family. Glavović visits the grave of Srdjan, who saved his life by coming to Trebinje every year, and his father, Radhi.
