Kosovar Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic will meet today in Brussels as part of the EU-brokered normalization of relations between the two countries.
EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell will hold a joint meeting with Kurti and Vucic at 18:00 with the participation of EU Dialogue Special Envoy Miroslav Lajcak. The statement on the meeting will focus on the implementation of the agreement reached to normalize relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
In the statement made by the EU, “The parties are expected to agree to the declaration of missing persons as the first item on the agenda. After that, there will be a presentation/discussion on the first draft Statutes of the Serb-Majority Union of Municipalities/Community of Municipalities in Kosovo.” The parties will have the opportunity to discuss current issues of political importance.
After the meeting, Borrell is expected to make a press statement.
While stressing the importance of the meeting, EU Dialogue Special Envoy Miroslav Lajác and Prime Minister Albin Kurti shared on his social media account last night, “Preparation for negotiations is complex and simple. It is complicated because there is a lot of information and details, it is simple because Kosovo’s aspirations are clear, simple and noble.”
