Balkans | Corti and Vucic will meet in Brussels on February 27

It was reported that Kosovar Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic will meet with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell in a trilateral meeting.

According to Borrell’s office, his meeting within the framework of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina will take place in Brussels on February 27.

Vucic and Kurti confirmed that they would attend the meeting.

Borrell and EU Special Representative Miroslav Lajcak will hold separate meetings with the two leaders. After that, a joint meeting will take place.

During the meeting, the European Union’s proposals for normalizing relations between Kosovo and Serbia will be discussed.

The European Union calls on Kosovo and Serbia to reach a final agreement that can solve the issues between the two countries to make progress in the integration process.

Finally, the two parties negotiate the text known as the “Franco-German Plan”, which is supported by all members of the United States of America and the European Union.

According to the plan, which was leaked to the media, Kosovo should allow the creation of a Federation of Serb Municipalities in municipalities in the country where most Serbs live.

Prime Minister Kurti indicated that he could consider the creation of the Federation of Municipalities of Serbia at the beginning of February, provided that some of the conditions he presented are met.

Serbia is required to respect Kosovo’s territorial integrity and allow it to join international organizations.

Serbia regards Kosovo, which unilaterally declared its independence in 2008, as its territory, and Serbia and Kosovo, which clash periodically, lead to normalization of relations, and eventually mutual recognition between the two countries within the scope of the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue process initiated in 2011 mediated European Union.
