It turned out that electrical cables caused the death of dozens of flamingos near the city of Missolonghi in southern Greece.
Ornithologist Nikolaos Nolas said, in his statement on this subject, that thousands of flamingos live around Lake Torleda, and noted that dozens of them are caught in the electric current by being locked in the cables of the Electricity Distribution Company (DEDDIE).
Emphasizing that the cables should be laid underground, Nolas said, “This week, pelicans and white birds died from electrocution.” He said.
Nolas warned that similar incidents could occur if precautions were not taken in the area.
On July 13, dozens of dead flamingos were found around Lake Torleda, near the city of Missolonghi, where thousands of flamingos and other bird species live.
The authorities launched an investigation.
