On March 3, the one-month campaign for early general elections in Bulgaria, scheduled for April 2, will begin.
Citizens in Bulgaria will go to the polls for the fifth time in the last 2.5 years, as the 48th parliament, which is only 3.5 months old, has not been able to form a government. Twenty-one political parties and coalitions will participate in the early general elections.
Political parties registered their candidate lists with the Central Elections Commission (ZİK), and the number of polls was set for 21 parties and coalitions.
Movement for Rights and Freedoms Party No. 13, most of whose members are Turks and Muslims. The pro-Russian Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), which conducts politics in line with the former Communist Party, will participate in the electoral race with ballot number 1.
Citizens’ Party for European Development in Bulgaria (GERB) No. 2, led by one of the former prime ministers, Boyko Borisov; Democratic Bulgaria – Go to Elections (DB-PP) is among the parties expected to receive the most votes in the elections according to opinion polls, with the 12th ballot box.
Voter fatigue
The failure of the last four parliaments, comprising 240 members, to reach a consensus on forming a coalition government in Bulgaria negatively affected the citizens’ desire to participate in the elections.
According to opinion research firms, turnout is expected to be low in the early elections scheduled for April 2. Opinion polls show that at least 5 political parties will participate in the new parliament.
The Gallup International Poll showed that DB-PP and GERB would be the two parties expected to receive the most votes in this election as well.
According to opinion polls, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front party is expected to be the third largest force in the new parliament.
Bulgarian citizens living in Turkey and abroad will be able to vote in the elections.
