After the war in Ukraine, it was claimed that 60 to 80 million euros of financial support could be provided to Greece in the framework of strengthening the European defense industry.
In the news, which was anonymously reported by the Kathimerini newspaper, it was emphasized that after the war in Ukraine, the need for military equipment increased in Europe.
In the piece arguing that 60 to 80 million euros will be earmarked for Greek defense systems from the distribution of European funds to be used in the framework of efforts to strengthen the European defense industry, he claimed that the first steps of this decision were taken after European Commission member for industry Thierry Breton visited Greece last week.
In the news, it was said that if such a decision is implemented, it will be an important supplier for the Greek defense systems and ammunition production plants in Lavrio.
Breton announced yesterday at a press conference in Brussels that the “Ammunition Production Support” bill was prepared to boost ammunition stocks because of the ammunition sent to Ukraine with the war.
Recalling that with the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war, European countries provided Ukraine with a large amount of ammunition, Breton pointed out the importance of sending artillery shells to Ukraine.
Noting that Europe needs to increase its ammunition production to compensate for its declining stockpiles, Breton said, “We want to directly support the development of our defense industry with EU financial resources for Ukraine and our security.” He said.
