The first flight took place between Istanbul and Plovdiv.
The first scheduled passenger flight between Istanbul and Plovdiv took place on Saturday 18 February.
The first Pegasus Airlines plane, which took off from Istanbul “Sabiha Gokcen” Airport, landed at Plovdiv Airport on Saturday, February 18.
The first plane that took off from Istanbul and arrived in Plovdiv was greeted by Deputy Minister of Transport of Bulgaria Nikolay Noydinov.
The flights, which will connect Plovdiv with Istanbul and then with the whole world, are expected to enhance cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of tourism.
It is noteworthy that reciprocal flights will be organized between Istanbul and Plovdiv twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
By providing fast, safe and cheap transportation to Istanbul for those living in Plovdiv and the wider surrounding areas, the airline will enable Bulgarian citizens to reach all parts of the world quickly via Istanbul Airport.
On the other hand, it was reported that the plane, which made its first flight to Plovdiv, transported aid collected for earthquake victims in Turkey in and around Plovdiv upon its return from Istanbul.
