Kostas Frangoiannis, Greece’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy, said that progress has been made towards cooperation under the “positive agenda” between Turkey and Greece.
In an interview with Kathimerini newspaper, Frangoyannis made assessments about the fourth positive agenda meeting of the Turkey-Greece Joint Action Plan and his visit to Ankara on the occasion of this meeting.
His contacts in Ankara have been fruitful, Frangoyan said, “We have seen with great satisfaction that progress has been made in almost all aspects of the positive agenda.” He said.
Frangoiannis stated that negotiations regarding the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Investment Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey and the Greek equivalent of this institution in Greece for investment (Enterprise Greece) have been completed.
Noting that the preparations for the Memorandum of Understanding between the General Secretariat of Hellenic Industry and the Department for the Development and Support of Small and Medium Enterprises (KOSGEB) have been completed, Frangoiannis noted that the delegations have completed their work in many areas such as tourism, trade, technology, communications and transportation.
Frangoyannis stated that within the framework of the positive agenda, steps towards cooperation between the business world of the two countries have been taken. He also stated that he aims to increase cooperation on issues such as agricultural development, sports and the environment.
Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Burak Aksapar held a working meeting with his Greek counterpart Frangoyannis on March 22 in Ankara.
After this meeting, which was the fourth meeting of the Positive Agenda Initiative, the State Department shared the joint statement regarding the meeting.
In the statement, he stated that the framework has been put in place to finalize relevant agreements that can be signed during the next high-level meeting.
