Due to the return of Turkish citizens living abroad to their hometowns, there is heavy traffic at the border checkpoints between Bulgaria and Turkey.
The season of mass travel from European countries to Turkey for summer vacation has begun for expats, thus the traffic at the border checkpoints with Bulgaria is very intense.
According to the data of the Directorate of Customs and Foreign Trade of the Thracian Region, the busiest point is the Kapekule-Kapetan Andrevo border gate, where the main passenger flow passes. In order to avoid traffic jams, 2 toll booths have been opened in Kapıkuli.
According to information from the Turkish Customs Administration, a total of 12 collection booths operate 24 hours a day. There is also heavy traffic at the Hamzabeyli – Lesovo border checkpoint.
