Balkans | Hungarian Prime Minister Orban: The Turkish world and Turkish countries will play a major role

Regarding the establishment of a dialogue between the global blocs, Hungarian Prime Minister Orban said that “the Turkish world and Turkish countries will play a major role.” He said.

Orban spoke at the Extraordinary Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (TDT) held at the Presidential Complex.

Orban expressed his condolences for the earthquakes that struck Kahramanmaraş on February 6, and stated that his country supports Turkey with search and rescue teams.

Referring to his country’s continued provision of aid to Turkey, Orban said that they plan to send more than 100 tons of medical supplies in this context.

Orban explained that Turkey has developed seriously in recent years and that he himself witnessed this, and continued as follows:

I first came to Turkey as Prime Minister in 2000 and worked with President (Recep Tayyip) Erdogan for more than 10 years. In the past 23 years, I have witnessed the development in Turkey, the remarkable progress in Turkey. I have seen with my own eyes the remarkable progress that has taken place under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. I’m sure this will continue in the future as well. Mr. President, I can assure you that we will be proud to support the reconstruction process in the coming period.

Orban pointed out that the 175th anniversary of the wars of freedom 1848-1849 was celebrated in Hungary, and the Ottoman Empire opened the doors to the Hungarians who were fighting for freedom against Austria and Russia at that time, adding that Turkish-Hungarian friendship goes back a long way.

Orban stressed that the Russian-Ukrainian war had a serious impact on Europe and that his country was a neighbor to Ukraine, and said that the Hungarian minority lives in Ukraine and that the Hungarians lost their lives in the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Pointing out that in the Russo-Ukrainian war, a ceasefire and peace should be declared as soon as possible, Orban stated that Europe has been restructured because of the war and this will also have an impact on the Turkish world.

Orban said, “I am also grateful to President Erdoğan. He is the only person who successfully initiated negotiations between the two sides of this war. Only in this way can we achieve peace. We would like to express our gratitude to Mr. Erdoğan for his contributions for peace.” He said.

Orban expressed TDT members’ support also for peace in the Russo-Ukrainian war, “I would like to thank TDT members for contributing to our Voices for Peace with a stronger voice. There are people being pushed into war every day, so it is very important to hear the voice of peace and to strengthen the voice of the wishes for peace.” When we look at the global majority here, a very large part of the countries actually want peace.” He said.

Orban indicated that they support the establishment of links between all countries instead of a blockage on a global scale, and said: “The Turkish world and Turkish countries will play a major role (in establishing dialogue between global blocs).” He said.
