It is noteworthy that the month of March in France witnessed the lowest number of births in the past 30 years.

According to the monthly demographic report of the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Research (INSEE), an average of 1,816 babies were born per day in France in March.

The number of births has fallen to the lowest level in the country since 1994, when data was recorded on a monthly basis for the past 30 years.

In addition, compared to March 2022, there was a 7 percent decrease in the number of births in the same period this year.

In the Ile-de-France and Occitanie regions, where the capital, Paris, is located, the number of births fell more than in the overseas departments of France.

The INSEE attributes this decline in the number of newborns to a decrease in the number of women of childbearing age and a slowdown in the fertility rate in recent years.

With 723,000 babies born in the country last year, the number of newborns was the lowest annual number since 1946.

It was also stated that the deportation of more than 161,000 people, most of them with immigrant backgrounds, was also effective in reducing the population growth rate.
