Konyaalti Municipality’s women’s handball team has played against Bosnia and Herzegovina’s representative RK Hadzici in the draw for the second round of the 2023-2024 European Women’s Handball Cup.
Konyaalti Municipality’s women’s handball team, the first European women’s handball champion in Turkey, has been determined as the European contender. The Blue Butterflies, who play Bosnia and Herzegovina national team RK Hadzici, will play their first away match on September 23-24. It was reported that the Konyaalti team will play the second match on September 30 and October 1 at home. Having achieved great success both in Europe and in the Women’s Handball Premier League in the previous season, Mavi Butterfly plans to make a name for itself in the new season with its transfers. The Konyaalti representative, who won the Women’s Handball European Cup 2022-2023 and left her mark in the history of Turkish women’s handball with golden letters, finished second in the league.
Great success in three years
Pointing out that they are a team that was established three years ago, Konyaalti Mayor Semih Essen noted that they have achieved great success in this short time. Noting that they had become one of the most ambitious teams in the league, Essen said they narrowly missed out on the league championship. Looking forward to all the titles in the new season, Chairman of the Board Essen said: “Last season, our team made us all proud by bringing home the European Cup for the first time. We will be playing in Europe again this year. On this road, our number one rival has become clear. I wish all our athletes a successful season in advance. I think they will make us proud again.”
