Hundreds of demonstrators staged a protest rally called “Serbia and the Liberation of Holy Kosovo” in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia.
The demonstrators, who marched behind a large wooden cross and carried icons of saints and Serbian flags with the words “No Surrender” in Cyrillic on them, protested the EU’s plan for Kosovo and President Aleksandar Vucic.
While the organizers argued that the march from the Patriarchate to Saint Sava Church was not political but religious, the demonstration also received support from some far-right movements. Some protesters were seen heckling the police with “gentlemen” and “go to Kosovo”.
At the end of the march, the participants attended the mass, which was led by the Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Porfirig, in the Church of St. Sava.
