Balkans | Kosovo’s flag hoisted over the northern municipality of Mitrovica

The flag of Kosovo was flown for the first time on the Mitrov Town Hall, in North Mitrov, of the four Serb municipalities in northern Kosovo, where Serbs form the majority.

Two Kosovo flags were hung today in the northern municipality of Mitrovica, led by Erden Atik, who received the largest number of votes in the extraordinary local elections held in the aforementioned municipalities and was boycotted by the Serbs.

Kosovo flags were previously flown in the town halls of Leposavic, Zvecan and Zubin Potok.

Meanwhile, the security situation in the north has remained tense since May, when newly elected Albanian mayors took office in municipal buildings with the help of the police.
