Programs were held in the Western Balkan countries, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Albania on the occasion of the Night of Power.
Muslims who came to the historic Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, participated in the program organized on Laylat al-Qadr. He read the Koran and prayed all night in the mosque.
Hussein Kawazovic, President of the Islamic Union, said that the Qur’an should be a standard in the problems that life brings, and advised believers to spend this night in prayer and worship.
Within the scope of the program held after the Tarawih prayers in the Kayseri Mosque in Gorazde, Bosnia and Herzegovina, those affected by the Kahramanmaraş earthquake on February 6 were not forgotten.
In the program organized on Laylat al-Qadr, prayers were offered for those who lost their lives in earthquakes in Turkey.
Gorazde Mufti Ramzija Betic stated that they want to be with their brothers in Turkey spiritually on Laylat al-Qadr.
The Religious Services Counselor of the Embassy of Turkey in Sarajevo distributed the Qur’an within the scope of the “Let the Qur’an be my gift” project.
Serbia and Montenegro
Citizens gathered in the Berkeley Mosque, which is the only mosque in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, and recited the Qur’an and prayers on the occasion of Laylat al-Qadr.
Muslims who filled the historic Ottoman mosque in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, the smallest country in the Balkans, read the Koran and prayed all night.
Kosovo, North Macedonia and Albania
Laylat al-Qadr, accepted as “better than a thousand months”, when the Qur’an began to be revealed, was revived in Kosovo, where the majority of the population is Muslim.
The faithful stood at the historic Fatih Sultan Mehmet Mosque in the capital, Pristina. In the city of Prizren, in the south of the country, Muslims filled the Emin Pasha Mosque to worship and pray until the morning because of Laylat al-Qadr.
Pristina Sultan Murad Mosque (Bazaar), which was reopened for worship after the completion of its restoration by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), was full of believers.
Muslims living in North Macedonia filled mosques to spend Laylat al-Qadr in worship.
On the occasion of Laylat al-Qadr, the Mustafa Pasha Mosque in the capital, Skopje, has attracted great attention. Turkish, Albanian and Bosnian hymns were sung as part of the program organized by the Mufti of Skopje.
In addition to the mosque’s interior, many Muslims gathered in its garden to celebrate Laylat al-Qadr.
The Ethem Bey Mosque in Tirana, the capital of Albania, was also crowded because of Laylat al-Qadr. After the Tarawih prayer, Muslims pray and recite the Qur’an.
On the occasion of Laylat al-Qadr, a sermon was delivered on the importance of the night. Muslims living in Albania caught up to the night by filling mosques across the country.
