More than 100 search and rescue specialists and health workers from Bulgaria continue their work in the earthquake-affected areas of Kahramanmaraş, which has been described as the “catastrophe of the century”.

According to information provided by the Bulgarian Embassy in Ankara, after the Kahramanmaraş earthquake, more than 100 search and rescue specialists and health workers from Bulgaria came to Turkey.

12 search and rescue specialists from the Bulgarian Red Crescent, 4 dogs and 2 cars went to Hatay after their service in Adana. 15 search and rescue specialists from Sofia Municipality continue to work in Adana with two vehicles.

In addition to these, the medical team from the Bulgarian Health Academy is working in Adana. The search and rescue team of the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior, General Directorate of Fire Safety and Civil Protection, consisting of 58 people and 18 vehicles, is contributing to the search and rescue efforts in the Pisne district of Adiyaman.

Bulgarian volunteers are also involved in the work in the earthquake zone

While 28 volunteers from the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv supported the works in the Adana region with 5 vehicles, a team of 20 firefighters from the General Directorate of Fire Safety and Civil Protection of the Bulgarian Ministry of Internal Affairs moved to the region to support search and rescue efforts in the Pisni region.

He stated that new teams from Bulgaria are expected to come to Turkey to support the studies.
