NATO Deputy Secretary General for Operations Tom Jovos held talks in Kosovo yesterday and urged Kosovo and Serbia to abide by agreements on tensions in northern Kosovo..
Tom Jovos, NATO Deputy Secretary General for Operations, traveled to Kosovo yesterday and met with the leaders of NATO’s Security Force KFOR and the European Union’s Rule of Law Mission (EULEX) in the region.
Tom Govos said in a statement to the press after their meeting: “It is urgent that Pristina and Belgrade take immediate steps to de-escalate tensions. It is also crucial that the two sides properly coordinate actions on the ground and respect existing agreements.”
“Political stability solution”
Deputy Secretary-General Tom Jovos said: “While the necessity of a strong Kosovo force has been demonstrated in the current environment, the solution to achieving lasting stability is political. It is critical that both Kosovo and Serbia engage constructively in the EU-facilitated dialogue.
We call on both sides to implement the Basic Agreement and the Implementation Supplement agreed upon in Ohrid as soon as possible and fully.
