Helga Maria Schmid, Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), met with Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Szaka, in Tirana, the capital of Albania.
In the press conference held after his meeting with Xhaçka, Schmid said that Albania is an active and reliable member of the OSCE.
Stating that the aggression in Ukraine has an impact that goes beyond this country and that is why they are living in very difficult times, Schmid said, “We have agreed that the OSCE is the main pillar of Europe’s security architecture. Minister Sciacca emphasized that their meeting with Schmid took place at a difficult time for European security and cooperation.
Shaka pointed out that North Macedonia has assumed the presidency of the OSCE in 2023, and therefore the OSCE has a special role in the region this year.
