A funeral service was held for the priest of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church Sveti Georgi in Edirne Aleksandr Çekerek.

Cekerek’s family offered condolences at the ceremony in the Sveti Georgi Church in the Kiek region, where he worked, for Cekerek (62 years old), who lost his life as a result of a heart attack.

At the ceremony, which was directed by Cyprian, Metropolitan of Stara Zagora, prayers were offered for Sirik and hymns were sung.

During the ceremony, the Bulgarian Ambassador to Ankara Angel Cholakov read a message of condolence from the President of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev.

Radev stated in his message that he was honored to be awarded the State Medal to Jekerk not long ago and that his memory will serve as an example for future generations.

In his speech at the ceremony, the head of the Christian congregation in Karjali, Rev. Peter Garina, said, “Alexander brought the Turks and Bulgarians together in the garden of the church. He bequeathed all religions to live together without distinction of language, religion or race. He was younger than me, but I learned a lot from him “. He said.

Garina ended her speech with the phrase “May God forgive you your sins” in Turkish.

After the ceremony, Jekerk’s body was buried in the church garden, according to his will. After the burial, the residents of the neighborhood, who offered their condolences to their families, prayed.
