The International University of Sarajevo (IUS), which operates in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, has offered a scholarship to 12-year-old Benjamin Mihanović, who is collecting aid by selling tea to earthquake-damaged disaster victims in Kahramanmaraş, for his university education. .
Mihanović, who sent the aid he collected by selling tea at the small stand he set up in the Dobrinja district of the capital Sarajevo to the earthquake victims in Turkey, received appreciation from both Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Turkish people.
The head of the Sarajevo Education Development Foundation (SEDEF) Hasan Topaloglu said: “Benjamin, who is small but big at heart, gave us a certificate to teach him at our university for free, in any department he desires.”
Reminding that Mihanović will benefit from the scholarship when she reaches university age, Topaloğlu said, “We wanted to reward these brave and merciful children. These are the children who are role models for the society. Since we want to increase their numbers, we wanted to reward them in some way and present them as young role models.” him in the community.”
Expressing his feeling of indescribable happiness, Mihanović said, “The help I gave to the earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria made everyone happy. I don’t count the days I spent on the counter. Help is important to me.” He said.
Mihanović said he was ready to help again in case of need, and said he had collected about 3,000 marks (30,000 Turkish liras) by selling tea.
The father, Edin Mihanovic, also stated that he is proud of this opportunity that his son had.
Mihanović’s gesture was also appreciated by Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu. Speaking at the joint press conference with Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina Elmedin Konakovich, Çavuşoğlu said, “As I saw on the news, a 12-year-old brother named Benjamin Mihanović collected aid money by selling tea on the streets of Sarajevo. I kiss our brother Benjamin’s eyes.” He made his remarks.
Mihanović, who bought items for earthquake-affected babies and children with the money he collected by selling tea, donated the other donations he made to a charity called Pomozi.ba.
