According to the statement of the Bulgarian mufti, the regional mufti of Sofia organized the screening of the documentary film “The Unquenchable Flame”, which tells about the life of the poet Nuri Turgut Adali, who is one of the brightest defenders of the rights and freedoms of citizens. The film screening, which was held at the Architects Club in Sofia, was attended by Mufti Dr. Mustafa Haji, Chairman of the Supreme Islamic Council Vedat Ahmed, Deputy Chairman of the Mufti Bihan Mehmet and Ahmed Hasanov, director of the documentary Mehmet Turker, diplomats and well-known names were present.
The participants recalled the unending enthusiasm for the thinker who was imprisoned for 27 years and talked about their meeting with him.
The host of the event and the regional mufti of Sofia Bihan Muhammad, who gave a welcome address to the guests, compared Nuri Turgut Adali to Nelson Mandela and gave information about his life, work and cause.
Chief Mufti Dr. Mustafa Hajj recalled the time the poet spent in the prison of the city of Stara Zagora (Old Zagora), the most difficult moments of his life, and the sacrifices he made to protect his religion, language, and identity.
Chief Mufti said, “What have we done so far and what are we going to do next? Nuri Adali gives us answers to these questions.”
Vedat Ahmed talked about the birth of the idea of making a documentary about Nuri Adly. The head of the Islamic Supreme Council emphasized that his life story symbolizes the pain and tests that we all go through. Vedat Ahmed, in his capacity as Chairman of the Initiative Committee, stated that the poet never gave up the struggle to protect our rights and identities on the occasion of the centenary celebration of the founding of Shumen Nofab Theological High School.
