ZA, a Serbian national who allegedly tortured a person for an hour and a half in 1999 in Kamenica, in an operation organized by the Special Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Kosovo in cooperation with the War Crimes Investigation Unit, was arrested today.
The detained Serbian national is also suspected of participating in the deportations and forced displacement of Kamenica citizens during the war in Kosovo, in particular during the period from February to March 1999, along with the Serbian police and other members of paramilitary groups.
In a statement on the arrest, Interior Minister Çelal Svechla said, “We neither forget nor forgive the crimes committed during the war in Kosovo. “Justice is imperative for every inhuman act against innocent people,” he said.
