The municipality of Strumica, located in southeastern North Macedonia, has become the first municipality in the country to open a shelter for stray dogs.
A shelter named “Lana” for stray dogs opened in Strumica, making it the first shelter in Macedonia with the status of a public institution after Skopje.
Two veterinarians, three vet technicians, two caregivers (internationally accredited) and three educators (internationally accredited) will work in the 58 bed/box shelter.
In a statement issued by Strumica Municipality, the main purpose of the existence of the “Lana” Public Stray Dog Hunting Foundation is the humane treatment and welfare of stray dogs. This will lead to a permanent and effective reduction in their numbers.” It has been said.
