Among the official guests who attended the opening of the March Days Music Festival, which was held in the city of Ruse (Ruske) located on the banks of the Danube River in Bulgaria, Turkish Ambassador to Sofia Aylin Itcuk said in her speech: “We thank the Bulgarian people for their great help after the earthquakes in Turkey. The program of the music festival began with the world premiere of the ballet “Calliop” by conductor and composer Emil Tabakov. The author of the text book is Alexander Malyshev. The work narrates the legend of Russe about the beautiful Calliope and Mithat Pasha.
“I remember very well the day when Mr. Tabakov and Mr. Malchev visited me at the embassy,” said the ambassador. “They told me an incredible story about Ruse. Pointing out that this year marks the centenary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey, the ambassador noted, “This piece of ballet will be at the forefront of the activities that we plan this year as part of the celebrations.”
