Citizens of Western Thrace almost vied with each other to help those affected by earthquakes, the epicenter of which was the Pazardzhik and Elbistan regions of Kahramanmaraş.
Due to the magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 earthquakes affecting 11 provinces in total, the neighboring countries were intensively involved in aid campaigns launched across Western Thrace.
15 trucks and 4 trucks loaded with relief materials collected in the in-kind aid campaign, which began under the leadership of the Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Turkish Western Thrace Minority and the elected Mufti of Komotini Ibrahim Sharif and ended on Monday, February 13, were sent to Turkey.

“The Turks of Western Thrace” How can I contribute? “act with thought”
Mostafa Trampa, the elected Mufti of Xanthi, said the entire minority was deeply distressed by the earthquakes. How can I contribute to the question of all the Turks of Western Thrace? Trumpa stated that the collected aid materials were sent to Turkey with the coordination of the Consul General of Komotini, Aykut Unal.
Trumpa confirmed that they carried out the campaign that was launched in Khanthi with the contribution of their colleagues, Representative Hussein Zaybek and Burhan Baran, and said:
“Our financial aid campaign is going on. People come to us to watch TV and ask what more can be done. On the one hand, they make us happy, it is an expression of our commitment to our homeland. We consider it a debt to do so in exchange for the moral support we have felt so far when we stayed here under the guarantor of our homeland.”
“Your help is of great value to us.”
The Turkish Consul General in Komotini, Aykut Onal, conveyed his thanks in Turkish, Greek and English to the citizens of Western Thrace and the Greek people in the video he posted on social media. Pointing out that public and educational institutions and non-governmental organizations have started campaigns across the country to collect financial and in-kind aid, Onal said, “Infinite thanks to our friends and compatriots who were with us during this process and collected and delivered aid by forcing them by all means.” Use the phrase.
