The Kosovo Security Force (FSK), better known as the country’s army, will be recruiting for the third time in two years.
The increasing trend of the departure of soldiers from the Kosovo Security Force is of concern to the Government.
Kosovo’s Defense Minister Armind Mihaj called on Kosovo’s youth to apply to become soldiers. He said that with the new wage law, wage increases are expected for them.
“As long as our country raises patriotic youth who salute the flag, our traditions of serving the nation will never die,” Mahaj said on social media.
There are days left until the deadline for the KSF to announce the recruitment of military candidates.
The announcement of 612 new recruits and 388 reservists will continue through Sunday. The Department of Defense has launched its third recruitment process in the past two years.
Meanwhile, 127 KSF soldiers left in the last year alone.
The trend of FSK members leaving the army has reached alarming proportions.
Conditions are alleged to be the main reason soldiers leave to serve back home.
In 2021, the FSK consisted of about 2,500 soldiers and 800 reservists.
It is planned that the FSK will reach 5,000 active members and 2,000 reservists.
