Yakov Milatović, the winner of the presidential elections held in Montenegro on April 2, announced that his country would not withdraw its decision to recognize Kosovo’s independence.
Speaking to TV Nova, Milatović said it was unrealistic to expect Kosovo’s independence decision to be revoked, adding: “We support all agreements between Belgrade and Pristina, and I think normalization of relations is of great importance for the whole region.” He said.
Milatović stated that Montenegro wants to be a good neighbor country that defends good neighborly relations.Serbia I want to have as good a relationship as possible, and that’s what I focused on when I was Minister of Economy,” he said.
Noting that Serbia is the largest country in the Western Balkans, Milatović said he plans to visit Serbia at the invitation of his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic.
Milatović stated that he will make his first foreign visit to Brussels, and that Montenegro is already moving towards the European Union.
