Balkans | The Movement for Rights and Freedoms in Bulgaria held Iftar in Karjali

In Bulgaria, the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (HÖH), whose members are mostly Turks and Muslims, held an Iftar in Karjali.

Attending the dinner, Turkish Ambassador to Sofia Aylin Etcuk said in her speech that the Movement for Rights and Freedoms “made an epic” after the earthquakes that hit Kahramanmaraş on February 6 affected 11 provinces.

“I turned the campaign desks into fundraisers.” Itcuk confirmed that 1,500 volunteers from the party and more than a million Turkey lovers whose hearts beat with Turkey participated in the aid campaign.

It was stated that the Grand Mufti of Bulgarian Muslims and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms had launched a major campaign on the one hand, and Itcuk stated that all Bulgarians, Turks, Muslims and non-Muslims supported this campaign.

Explaining that he has a 30-year career in diplomacy, Erskok followed up his words as follows:

I have never seen such great love for Turkey in any country I have worked in. You are a fan of Turkey and we love you. You weep for us, we wept for you through the difficult period, but now I wish we could be together in the good things.”

Mustafa Karadi, head of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, stated that they started a relief campaign in the first hours after the earthquake disaster and it continued as follows:

As a minority in Bulgaria, as the movement for rights and freedoms, we did our best. Our help may not be enough, but we made a contribution. We have sent over 150 trucks of food, clothing and goods. We also sent 150 live containers. We were able to send 7,500 camp beds and more than a thousand tents, but all Bulgarian citizens took part in this aid campaign after the earthquake.

The Mufti of Bulgarian Muslims, Mustafa Alesh Haji, said: “We have earthquake victims, brothers and sisters who cannot find food or shelter. May God help them.” I prayed.

The breakfast was attended by Turkish Consul General in Plovdiv Korhan Kongero, Deputy Mufti General, leaders of local organizations of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, parliamentary candidates of the party, and MEPs.
