Cardigal Mayor Dr. M. With a ceremony attended by Hasan Aziz and Mayor of Strumica Kostdin Kostdinov, the sister city of North Macedonia, three new social service institutions, totaling 20 in total, were officially opened in Karjali district.
They are a day care center for children and families with disabilities with a capacity of 60 places for day care services and 60 places for counseling services, a general support center with a capacity of 100 places and a capacity of 4 places for emergency shelter, and a supervised residential center with a capacity of 6 places.
The new social services are being implemented within the scope of the project “Manual support for the children of Karjali-2” funded within the framework of the Human Resources Development Operational Program for the period 2014 – 2020, co-financed by the Commission of the European Union (EU) through the European Social Fund.
During the ceremony, another project for the construction of centers and a supervised residence center at Belomorski Boulevard No: 50 (former student residence No. 4) was completed.
The ceremony was also attended by the deputy mayors of Kirkcalli M. Katja Mitovska and Tuncay Šukru, Secretary General of the Municipality of Šabahatyn Riza, Chairman of the Committee for Social Activities of the Municipality of Sezken Bekir and guests of the Municipality of Strumica – Mayor of the Municipality Marian Daskalovsky, Secretary General of the Municipality of Strumica Aleksandr Ucakov and member of the City Council Aleksandr Nenchev were also present.
In the opening speech of the ceremony, Nermin Mohamed, Head of the Humanitarian Aid Activities Department of Kirkcale Municipality, introduced the project to the participants.
Mayor m. Hassan Aziz said in his welcoming speech: “We are implementing the 20th social service in Kirkcale district. We can’t help but look back at the time when two social service organizations were in words and numbers in Kardzhali. When we started to actively work for the municipality’s social policy, the people working in the scope of social activities were about 120 people. Today, we have more than 750 employees who are involved in social policy within the scope of projects we have implemented. Today, the target audience is 4,500 people, and about 15 of these 20 social services are oriented towards children in Karjali. Our social activities involve more than 450 children and young people.
Dr. thanked M. Aziz said: “We believe that thanks to their work, those in need will be of equal social standing. He stressed that they – children, youth and the elderly should feel the interest and support of the local authority.
The total amount of the “Hand in Hand Support for the Children of Kardzhali – 2” project is 2,212 158.00 BGN, and the implementation period is from December 2, 2021 to December 31, 2023.
Nermin Mohamed presented the goal and activities of the project as follows: “The main objective of the project is to provide appropriate social services in the community for children and youth at risk, including children with disabilities and their families, and to provide them with equal access to life in a family environment and social inclusion services.
