The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) has set up a practical training class in the cooking department at Zenica Mixed High School in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Located in Zenica, the fourth largest city in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and founded in 1927, Zenica Mixed High School has 12 specialized departments. The secondary school in question provides education to approximately 400 students with 70 staff members.

As the current equipment of the culinary practice class, where 90 students received hands-on training, lost their jobs over time, there were major disruptions to the applied training. Implementation of the project “Supporting the Establishment of the Culinary Department Practical Training Class in Zenica Mixed High School” Within the scope of increasing the applied training capacity in BiH, TIKA renewed the practice class equipment of the culinary department and established a modern culinary practice class.

This project aims to contribute to the development of the services sector in the country and to train qualified intermediate cadres needed by the sector.

Tika attended the opening ceremony of the project. Sarajevo Coordinator Erdinç Işık, Principal of Zenica Mixed Secondary School Amela Mujakovic, school teachers and students attended.

In her speech at the opening ceremony, Amila Mujakovic, Principal of Zenica Mixed Secondary School, stated that thanks to the project that was realized, the quality of applied education in the school was increased and the shortage in the field of practice was eliminated. Türkiye Mujakovic expressed his thanks to the Republic of Turkey and Teka, and said that Turkish cuisine will also be taught to students in a practical cooking class.
