Balkans | Tourism activities increased in Bulgaria in December 2022

Tourism activities in Bulgaria increased in the last month of 2022 compared to the same period in 2021.

In the news of the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (BTA), the statement made by the National Statistical Institute (NSI) is included.

Accordingly, trips abroad by Bulgarians rose to 604,700 in December 2022, an increase of 9.7 percent compared to the same period in the previous year.

And the trips of foreigners to Bulgaria increased by 60.3 percent in the same period, reaching 761 thousand and 900.

Rumen Draganov, Director of the Institute for Analysis and Evaluation in Tourism, evaluated the data announced by NSI to the BTA.

Draganov noted that the number of flights to and from the cities of Sofia, Varna, Bourgas and Plovdiv had increased and it had become difficult to find tickets.

Noting that the majority of Bulgarians, Italians, Spaniards, French and Scandinavians are on board these flights, Draganov said that Bulgaria is increasingly becoming a four-season tourist country.

Draganov explained that the number of tourists coming to Bulgaria increased by 10 percent in the last quarter of 2022 compared to the same period in 2019.

Drawing attention to the fact that 10 percent of the 761 thousand 900 foreign tourists who came to Bulgaria in December 2022 prefer ski tourism, Draganov said that ski resorts evaluate every opportunity to provide artificial snow as much as possible.

Draganov mentioned that some ski resorts in Austria, Italy, Switzerland and France were closed due to the hot weather.
