Balkans | Turkish Airlines delivers relief items collected for earthquake victims in Turkey on the same day in the USA

As part of the aid campaign organized by the Turkish Embassy in Washington, materials collected for earthquake victims in Turkey are delivered to Turkey by daily flights from 12 airports in the United States by Turkish Airlines (THY).

Fundraising activities, in which Turkish citizens residing in the United States and American philanthropists show great interest, are meticulously followed by the Turkish Embassy in Washington.

Classified donations are packed and delivered to Turkish Airlines teams at airports in the region, and aid items are delivered to Turkey on the same day as Turkish Airlines flights.

Anadolu Agency filmed the process of loading relief materials on board the Turkish Airlines plane, which was preparing for flight TK 08 between Washington and Istanbul, at Dulles Airport, Virginia, USA.

Adana was one of the cities hardest hit by the earthquake. The fact that the name of the Boeing 777-300 ER of the THY type, on which the auxiliary materials were loaded, was also called “Adana”, gave the ground crew emotional moments.

Airline officials stated that in the past two days, 10 tons of relief items have been dispatched from Dulles Airport alone.

Turkish Airlines cargo planes are also active

The aid campaign, which was coordinated by the Turkish Consulate General in New York, also received great attention.

When the amount of aid collected exceeded the capacity of passenger planes, Turkish Airlines allocated a cargo plane to transport cargo consisting of 92 pallets.

Reyhan Ozgur, Consul General of Turkey in New York, provided information at the press conference held at New York John F Kennedy Airport (JFK) before the THY cargo plane departed.

Ozgur expressed great interest in the aid campaign: “As of today, we are sending 35 tons of materials to our country in less than 24 hours, as a result of the intense participation of our citizens. The material in question consisted of 92 pallets.” In his words.

Indicating that aid activities are continuing intensively, Ozgur announced that, at the request of Turkish citizens living in the United States, a warehouse has been allocated in the state of New Jersey and citizens can provide their aid there.
