Turkey’s Ambassador to Pristina Sabri Tunj Angeli visited the grave and family of the first President of Kosovo, Ibrahim Rugova.
Ambassador Angeli left flowers at Rugova’s grave and was received at his residence by his wife and children.
The ambassador also showed documents and photographs from the process before Kosovo became a free, democratic and independent country. He also visited the Independence House Museum Ibrahim Rugova.
Rugova led Kosovo’s peaceful resistance when the regime of Serbian leader Slobodan Milosevic ended Kosovo’s autonomy and established a police regime in the region.
Rugova, who was elected the first president of Kosovo in 2002 after the Kosovo war, died in 2006 of lung cancer.
