Balkans | Voters in Greece go to the polls in the general election

Voting has begun in the general elections in Greece.

Voters will be able to vote between 7:00 am and 19:00 pm.

Voters going to the polls will choose between 27 political parties, 8 coalitions and one independent candidate.

According to the electoral system in Greece, voters not only choose parties and alliances, but also choose between the parties’ parliamentary candidates.

As polls close, polls will also be published.

The Greek Ministry of the Interior is expected to start announcing the first unofficial results as of 20.30.

There are approximately 9 million 800 thousand registered voters in the country.

After the voting age was lowered from 18 to 17 by decision in 2016, 17-year-old voters can vote for the first time in this year’s general election.

While the number of 17-year-olds who can vote for the first time is 112,97, the number of 17-21-year-olds is over 438,000.

If no government is formed with today’s poll results, voters will have to go to the polls again.

However, in the second poll, the party with the most votes will get an additional 20 seats in Parliament.
