Officials from the World Health Organization and China got together to discuss the current situation of the COVID-19 disease.
According to a written statement from the World Health Organization, a high-level meeting between WHO and China was held on December 30. During the meeting, issues such as the increase in Kovid-19 cases in China, the demand for more information on the current epidemiological situation, and the provision of more expertise and support from the World Health Organization (WHO) came to the fore.
Senior officials from the National Health Commission of China and the National Administration for Disease Prevention and Control briefed WHO on China’s strategy and measures in epidemic control, variant tracing, vaccination, clinical care, communication, and research and development.
WHO requires China to regularly retransmit specific, real-time data on cases, DNA sequences of virus samples, and data on the impact of the disease, including hospitalizations, ICU admissions, deaths, immunogenicity, and vaccination, particularly in the population. Over 60 years of age request data on his condition.
WHO officials have highlighted the importance of immunization and vaccination reminders with doses to protect those most at risk of serious illness and death.
The World Health Organization called on China to strengthen nucleic acid sequencing, clinical management and evaluation of the impact of the virus, and also expressed its willingness to provide support to China in these areas.
The WHO also called on Chinese scientists to participate more actively in the organization’s expert councils on Covid-19.
WHO officials also highlighted the importance of timely follow-up and data sharing to help China and the global community make accurate risk assessments and inform effective responses.
